Sitting in the Blenz on Granville waiting for a friend. Loud hipster-rock blaring from the speakers hardly makes for the relaxing coffee-shop ethos I expected, and simultaneously makes me feel old.

You should tell them and not just tolerate it. Tell them exactly how you feel. There is entirely too much noise everywhere, in stores, in malls and you would appreciate some oases of peaceful quiet where you can sip your coffee and collect your thoughts.
Most of those places have cards to fill out or websites where you can let them know how they are doing.
