W00t Canada! The loonie has now hit parity with the US dollar. So if there's anything you've been meaning to smuggle import from the States, now's the time.

Speaking of the United States, don't try to speak your mind there, you might get tasered... or worse.

It felt like fall when I left my house this morning. It was still cloudy and wet so I took my long jacket and my umbrella. The weather likes to choose Monday as the prime day to flip from rain to beautiful sun. By the time I got downtown it was sunny out. This would help explain why I left my umbrella on the bus when I disembarked on Howe street. So I rushed several blocks over to Burrard station. The bus was there, sans driver. So I pushed my hand between the plastic lips between the rear doors so I could push the bar and open the doors. Luckily, no drivers were around to lecture me. Somehow I doubt most of them care.

Yesterday I bought a mortar and pestle at London Drugs and used it to crush the thyme I'd collected from the garden and hung dry. It seems to be lemon thyme; the scent is unmistakable. To be honest, it was a fair bit of work for the amount of spice that was yielded. Oh well, it felt rewarding. There's still the rosemary and sage...

I'm taking a dance class with Angela this evening. Wish me luck. Actually, wish Angela luck, because it's her feet which will need the magical protection of your wishes.

I had a weird dream last night. I was in a public place, like some kind of hall (for some reason). I was just coming home from somewhere on a weekend. My hair was a mess because I hadn't showered that day, I had a couple of days worth of beard growth, and I was carrying around my stuff in a plastic bag.

Then suddenly there was this frenzy of media and a big crowd. I allowed myself to be carried along out of curiosity. And I realized that The Queen was there in the room with me, and was taking the unusual step of individually meeting members of the public. I also realized that I was being ushered along in the line of people looking for a meeting/greeting. "Shit, shit," I thought, because this clearly was a once in a lifetime opportunity for me to personally meet with a British monarch, but I looked awful. So I just kept getting pushed along and thinking "'Your Majesty', not 'Your Highness', 'Your Majesty', not 'Your Highness'."

And then I was face to face with our head of state, grinning like an idiot. We actually exchanged pleasant greetings while I bowed gratuitously. The she pointed at my torso and politely said, "I'm afraid you might have some filth on your shirt there, sir." I looked down and realized I was wearing my "Sarcasm is One of the Services I Offer" shirt, and it had some kind of food stain on it. I felt like a total hobo.

Then Iain showed up and pooped all over everything with explosive diarrhoea (okay, that last part didn't happen, but if Iain had access to my dream at that point it's totally what he would have done; For reals).

And now for something completely different: Jeff's Kitchen Bling

Bling!

Vacation is over as of tomorrow. Though it now feels that it was far too short, I really enjoyed it and feel that I accomplished a lot. For example:

- Spent a weekend in Pender Harbour and Garden Bay
- Spent a day at Stanley Park and the Vancouver Aquarium
- Spent lots of time with the Dixons
- Spent even more time with my lovely Angela
- Along with Jeff, spent some money at Ikea
- Along with Jeff, spent the time to clean and totally reorganize much of our house

There have been a lot of changes. Iain moved out around the middle of the month. Jeff and I used the opportunity of our brief two-roommate duopoly to make sweeping, autocratic changes to the house (mostly in the kitchen). We were mad with power, but the changes look fantastic.

In case you didn't know, Iain had a "French going away party", where we were all encouraged to look and dress and act French. So there are some truly horrifying pictures of me as a mime. Brace yourself.

Also, it should be mentioned that David is working out just swell. He's a really nice, easygoing guy with great values (indicative of much of the population of Sweden, apparently). I have finally calmed down FULLY about the whole "roommate crisis".

Tomorrow, Automated Filing welcomes back its IT Manager. I hope there's no laundry list of problems waiting for me...
