Angela and I had felt a little guilty about not having the time or energy to go out and see the Brian Jungen exhibit on the last day it was showing at the Vancouver Art Gallery. It was therefore quite a pleasant surprise to discover that where I am now, Montreal, is in fact the exhibition's next stop. So yesterday Nadia and I made a visit to Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal. Expect to see life-size Narwhal skeletons painstakingly constructed out of plastic chairs, or pacific First Nations style masks made from Nike Air athletic shoes. Social commentary aside, the objects provide a sense of wonder and evoke feelings about the convergence between the natural and artificial, between traditional and mass culture.

I also bought TEA.

We're gonna try to go up on the mountain today. Or as I, the Vancouverite, would call it, the "gently sloping hill".

Its good that the trip is winding down, because I'm starting to get homesick... or more specific-person-sick, perhaps.
