Michelle sent me a link to this very interesting little video clip. Apparently, it's a deleted scene from the original Star Wars movie that was never made it into the final cut. It shows Luke talking with Biggs and some of Luke's other friends, with a cameo by the once-somewhat-infamous Koo Stark. Interesting stuff.

I'm in an odd place. I'm eating small amounts of carefully selected "neutral" foods. My tummy is still too sensitive to be eating a lot of things at once, but I'm made ravenous by the smell of people's meaty, greasy lunches and the sight of one of my coworkers sipping a slurpee in the hot weather. My digestive system had better shape up soon, I'm starting to gnaw on my knuckles.

THAT was sweet!! is there an explination anywhere why it didn't make the final cut?

it probably never made it in due to timing and pacing. the scene's too long and slow, it changes Luke from a loner family boy to some popular ace pilot, and gives away too much unnecessary background politics too early. first time viewers at that point in the film are still trying to get to know the characters and don't care about economic and social issues - especially in an action sci-fi movie. that comes later.

sorry, but makes perfect sense to me.
