After playing Star Wars: Battlefront with my roommate Iain over the weekend I can relate to today's comic over at PvP. Killing Wookies is bad, mm-kay. It gave me an attack of morality.

It's true what they're saying over at Penny Arcade: the game is nice but it's very unpolished. The AIs for the NPCs are immensely dim-witted. The game even crashed while we were in the middle of a battle, and I'm talking about the the Xbox version, here. Still, it's hard not to be endeared by the game. It's especially fun to bring your droid army out onto the fields of Naboo and slaughter hapless Gungans by the dozens. That in itself is worth a look.

Oh super. So after suffering through a day last week of not being able to keep any food down, it seems I'm getting sick again, with something entirely different. Oh, how the gods have blessed me with such gifts. Truly, this is nothing more than divine love.

Of course, catching this new cold is probably my own fault. Friday night I went to see the British rock band Muse at Vancouver's swanky Commodore Ballroom. The opening act was somewhat bleah... and Muse themselves took forever to get on stage. By the time they finally did, the dance floor was packed with hundreds of fans standing literally shoulder to shoulder. I was inhaling a thick soup of exhaled human breath and evaporated sweat: a great way to catch a cold, now that I think about it.

It was a fun show, despite the fact that I was nearly moshed to death on more than occasion. Chris D. almost got in a fight with some guy over repeated unsolicited pushing. I don't even think the guy realized it, since Chris' rebuttal was to push back.

Anyway, I'm coughing up a lung here. Time for sleep.

Right now in Outpost 10F's forums everyone is going ga-ga for the the geek test. It's a comprehensive test that reads like a what's what of geekiness. I rated 39.25049% - Major Geek. Some of the people at Outpost 10F are scoring up in the 60% margin. Sounds like nerd territory to me, I don't think I want to be nearly that geeky. If you're a long time geek, some of the questions will really get you nostalgic.

Everyone's talking about this Penny Arcade strip. Once again Gabe and Tycho hit it right on the nose. High-larious!

I bear no grudge, even though my heart may break.
Eternally lost love, I bear no grudge.
Though you're shining in your diamond splendour,
No ray of light falls on the darkness of your heart,
I've known it well for a long time.
I bear no grudge, I bear no grudge.

I bear no grudge, even though my heart may break.
I saw you in a dream, I saw the darkness in your heart,
and saw the snake that feeds upon your heart.
I saw my love how utterly wretched you are.
I bear no grudge, I bear no grudge.

On Friday, I went to see "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow" with some friends. A Sci-Fi action movie with a 1950's sci-fi visual style; sounds great, right? Yes well, never underestimate the power of Hollywood to screw up a perfectly good concept. The plot was rather static, the characters lacked depth and were completely unlikeable.

Furthermore, the visual style didn't always mesh well with the high-detail scenes provided by 21st-century visual technology. One scene I remember in particular was an underwater dogfight. Between the soft focus, the sepia tones, and the darkness, one really couldn't see anything. I thought, "Wow, if I could see what was going on, I bet it would look really cool." In conclusion, two thumbs down from Iain and I. Strangely enough, Iain's girlfriend Danielle liked it, but she doesn't have enough geek points to vote.

At last, for your laughing pleasure, may I present Dwarven Minors. I've also taken the opportunity to correct some spelling errors on the Omega Hare cards. Oops!

Thanks a LOT, Angel. Now I've got Banana Phone playing over and over in my head. That means I've only got about ten hours before my head explodes. Leave it up to Raffi to create such an annoyingly infectious song. Ah well... maybe head explosion won't be so bad...

Check out some of then flash animation at Bitey Castle. It's very artful and imaginative. Not to mention it is endearing and humorous without excessive blood or swearing (see all other previous flash cartoon references). I heartily recommend "The Hitchhiker" and the cartoons which star Bitey himself.

Nothing's happening, and it's not fair. I'm waiting for internet to be installed at our new place. Telus has a way of thinking that their hook-up procedure will work flawlessly the first time without any tweaking. In the meantime, I've provided my new roommate Iain with a PCI wireless card and he's enjoying the benefits of unprotected wireless networks. Some good news; it looks like my laptop is FINALLY repaired and I'll be picking it up this afternoon. w00t!

My miniature semi-protege Jessie keeps bugging me for pictures, *pokes her* :-P so I might think about putting a "Photos" section on the site. This would also serve the purpose of providing a method of embarrassing my close friends.

I'm taking German classes at UBC in an effort to try to finish off my B.Mus. Ich heisse Jesse. *bows* Danke. :-)

Flash cartoon-lovers, you definitely have to visit illwillpress.com and observe the rants of Foamy the Squirrel. The pet of a goth-girl named Germaine, he has plenty of hilariously inflammatory comments about life in general. It has quickly become popular in my group of friends. Our favorite episode right now is when he explains the condition known as stigmata of the eye. Stigmaaaaataaaaa...

I'm introducing a new feature to the main page. My current stalker song. Do you ever feel like you're being stalked by a song? You turn on the radio and there it is, then you change the station and it's there as well? Then it gets stuck in your head and you find some way to relate to the lyrics and it's permeating your entire existence? Yeah. Find my current stalker song in the sidebar on the main page in the near future.
